Over 150 100 to 150 75 to 150 50 to 75 Under 50

Overview

The map on the left, shows the dispersion of median family incomes throughout Adams County. Unlike household income which includes all earners regardless of their relationship to one another, family income is a subset of household and is defined as the presence of children that are cared for by at least one adult. A good example of a nonfamily is a single person household.

Median family income is where half the people in an area are under that median family income value and the other half are above that value. In the case of the map on the left, the darker areas show where the median family income is the highest. An interesting use of median family income is in comparing various areas. If one area shows a median family income lower than another, you can say that area has a less prosperous population without having to analyze the numbers beyond the median itself.

Below is a chart and report that shows how the county compares to the state it is located in and the nation.
